Active School Week in First Class

First Class were very busy for Active School Week.

On Monday we had great fun during our Basketball Blitz.  Our skills improved enormously as the tournament went on.  At the start we were all running after the ball but as the games went on, we started to use the space much better and to pass to each other.  It was a very enjoyable afternoon, and we were happy and tired at the end of the day.

On Wednesday we took a hike around the Bog Meadow.  As well as the enjoyable walk we were on the hunt for bluebells and primroses, which we have been studying in Science.  We spotted them and lots of wild garlic, ferns, Herb Robert and buttercups too.  It’s wonderful going to school in the ‘Garden of Ireland’!

We invited in our parents to see our gymnastic display on Wednesday also.  They were really pleased to see our tumbles, jumps, handstands, cartwheels and balances.

On Thursday it was Sports Day and we had lots of fun with the novelty races and relays.  The photos say it all.

On Friday the whole school went down to the hall for the Active School Display.  Our class members demonstrated Ninjutsu, Taekwondo, Irish dancing and ballet.  First Class also performed their gymnastics display for the whole school.
