Irish Dancing

Claire Dowling started teaching in St. Mary and Gerard’s National School in 1996 and each year, the class expands and more children join to fall in love with Irish dance. The classes have grown over the years and now allow each child to partake in Grade Examinations each June, an annual class Féis and the Wicklow Championships. These annual events, to name but a few, allow each child’s confidence to flourish while still enabling children to have fun.

Pupils who have started in this school have gone on to compete at Leinster and World level, winning medals and cups in both. Furthermore, many have completed all ten grade exams and have then proceeded to become fully qualified teachers themselves.

Dancing allows each child the opportunity to grow and make new friends, all while learning invaluable life skills such as team work and dedication. Claire has had many wonderful years of teaching at this school and looks forward to having many more.

Classes are on a Wednesday afternoon from 3:00pm to 4:10pm.
