Our week with our Luxembourger penpals

The sun shone brightly on 29 May as our 25 penpals from Luxembourg joined us in school along with their teachers, Yannick  and Natalie, and a parent, Aurélie. During the week, we made bilingual posters advertising our céilí; played “Ice Breaker Bingo,” “Stop the Bus” and “Back to Back” together; taught our visitors how to do Irish dancing; played rounders and basketball together; watched a Discover Ireland 5 minute promotional video and a Riverdance excerpt from the 1994 Eurovision; enjoyed parachute games and novelty races in the Bog Meadow and some tug of war at school; made shamrock hats and shamrock men; researched and presented bilingual Powerpoints on animals chosen by our penpals; held a wonderful talent show; and enjoyed a fun-filled céilí, pizza fest & farewell party. Our sincere thanks to everyone at home & at school whose support, assistance & goodwill made this a very special experience which none of us will ever forget.
